Norval John Veker
April 25, 1940 — October 27, 2016
Norval J. Veker, age 76 of L’Anse, MI passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at UP Health System in Marquette, MI.
Norval was born April 25, 1940 in Mass City, MI son of John and Thora (Barry) Veker. He graduated from Ontonagon High School, then went into the US Navy. Norval married Mary Coyle in 1961 in Waukegan, IL, they moved to Marquette where he received a Master’s degree in teaching from Northern Michigan University. He taught 6th grade at C J Sullivan Elementary School in L’Anse and was also a coach for many sports including football and basketball. He retired in 1996.
Norval was a member of Superior Beagle Club in Lake Linden and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and reading.
Surviving are his wife Mary of L’Anse, and numerous cousins, neighbors, and friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents, son John Veker, and daughter Patricia Veker.
His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 1st at 2:00 p.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Fr. Corey Litzner will officiate. Burial will be in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
