Oliver A. Tikkanen
July 24, 1916 — March 26, 2004
Oliver A. Tikkanen, age 87 a life long resident of Herman passed away on Friday, March 26, 2004 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 24, 1916 in Herman, MI son of the late Abraham and Aliina (Saarinen) Tikkanen. Oliver married Sylvia Maki on June 14, 1941 in L'Anse. He retired from Cleveland Cliffs where he worked for over 30 years. Oliver enjoyed hunting and fishing.
His wife Sylvia, a sister Gertrude Kantola of Covington, and several nieces and nephews survive him.
Preceding him in death are three brothers and six sisters.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 29, at 3:00 p.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Leon Linquist will officiate. Burial will be in the Herman Cemetery in the spring. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse is assisting the family.
