Oscar M. Ohman

February 12, 1924 — July 20, 2003

Oscar M. Ohman, age 79 of Zephyrhills, Florida passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2003 following a lengthy illness, at Marquette General Hospital, with his wife by his side.

He was born on February 12, 1924 in Minneapolis, MN son of the late Robert and Ellen (Skoglund) Ohman. He grew up in Minneapolis and Kenton, MI and attended school in Kenton. Oscar was in the CCC, then went to serve our country and was a veteran of WWII and Korea. He worked for Scott Paper in Detroit for 18 years until he took early retirement. Oscar married the former Barbara Hubbard on August 9, 1970 in Wayne, MI. They were to celebrate 33 years together. They resided in Wayne until 1975 when they moved to Florida. Over the past 12 years they enjoyed coming up to Kenton where they spent time at their cabin. He was a member of the Lions Club in Florida.

Oscar is survived by his wife Barbara of Zephyrhills, FL; three sons, Bruce Ohman of Kenton, Barry (Beata) Ohman of Ann Arbor, MI, Bradley (Holli) Ohman of Garden City, MI; a step son, Russell Matero of White Lake, MI; two step daughters, Marlina (John) Ireland of Santa Monica, CA, Janet (Jim) Phinney of Dade City, FL; a sister Erna (Ed) Smigiel of Swartz Creek, MI; and four grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his sister Margaret.

There will be no visitation. The family will have a private memorial service. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse is assisting the family.
