Oscar John Wainio

Oscar John Wainio, age 88 of Ontonagon, MI passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Bayside Village in L'Anse, MI.
He was born April 10, 1924 in Ironwood, MI son to Oscar Joseph and Ida Evelyn (Forsti) Wainio. Oscar attended school in Ewen, MI and then went into the US Army and was in the Fighting 411th during WWII. He married the former Dorothy Rubich and they resided in Ontonagon where he worked for White Pine Mine until retiring.
Surviving is his wife Dorothy Wainio of Bruce Crossing, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his brother William Wainio; sisters Mary Laturi and Amelia Hoffstrom.
There will be no visitation or services at this time. The Jacobson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
