Paul Lawrence "Tutta" Almli, 94, of L'Anse, passed away Tuesday morning, July 31, 2007, at Bayside Village Nursing Center in L'Anse.

He was born April 29, 1913, in Pequaming, MI, a son of the late Christian & Nora (Nelson) Almli. Tutta attended the Pequaming and L'Anse High Schools and had been a lifelong area resident.

On October 17, 1936 he married the former Alice Louise Piper and she preceded him in death on September 19, 1972. On May 2, 1975 he married the former Jean Auger and she preceded him in death on Mar 4, 2002.

Tutta worked for 20 years on the Street Department as a supervisor for the Village of L'Anse retiring in 1978. He was the original owner of the Nite Owl Restaurant in L'Anse. Tutta also worked as a woodsman, carpenter, worked for the Federal Fish & Wildlife Department and owned & operated the L'Anse Shoe Shop.

Tutta was a member of the United Lutheran Church in L'Anse. He was a member of the L'Anse Hockey Association and coached several teams. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and "story-telling".

He is survived by a son, Biddle Almli of Aura; daughter, Alyce Seratti of L'Anse; sister, Norma Brown of L'Anse; 5 grandchildren, Jane (Buddy) Sweeney, Donna Ritter, Bart (Toni) Almli, Jerry (Julie) Seratti and Jeanine (Rich) Ernest; 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by 7 siblings, Grace, Oscar, Ottomina, Edward, Annabelle, Dolly and Jean; a daughter-in-law, Janice Almli and son-in-law, Jerry Seratti.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the L'Anse Baptist Church with Pastor Dean Franz officiating. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
