Phillip S. Moilanen

Phillip S. Moilanen, age 34, of Herman, passed away on Monday, April 2, 2001 at his home.

Phil was born on January 19, 1967 in Plymouth, Michigan, son of Glenn and Jeanne (Smith) Moilanen. He grew up in Iron River and graduated from West Iron High School in 1985. He was in the US Army from 1985-87. He returned to Iron River and worked for Coleman Products. He then lived in California and then Arizona, moving to Herman three years ago. He worked for C-FAB in L'Anse for more than two years. He enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, camping, biking, and four wheeling. Phil was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles-Aerie #2287 of L'Anse.

He is survived by his father Glenn of Herman, mother Jeanne Moilanen Smith of Kingman, Arizona, a sister Terri (Jesse) Qualls of Burlington, NC, paternal grandmother Ingrid Moilanen of Herman, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and one niece.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the Jacobson Funeral Home. The Eagles will conduct a service at 7:00 p.m.. The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 6, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Lutheran Church, with visitation one hour prior at the church. Rev. Margaret Grant will officiate. Burial will be held in the spring in the Herman Cemetery.

The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is in charge of arrangements.
