Raymond C. Marinich, age 86, of Skanee, MI, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2008 at the Baraga County Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. Ray was born in Bovine, MI, on Jan. 22, 1922, the son of George and Anna Marinich.

Preceding him in death are his parents, brothers George, John, Joe and sisters Ann, Mary, Margaret and also his son Ray Allan.

He was a loving and caring husband to Irma and a beloved father to Linda (Russ) Brunner, Eagle, WI, Laura (Gene) Cristan, Milwaukee, WI, Robert (Cheryl) Marinich, Milwaukee, WI, Leona (Tom) Magnant, DePere, WI, Lisa (Tony) Marinich, Skanee, MI, Lois (Dan) Roth, Port Washington, WI; and sister Josephine Campeau of L'Anse. He also has eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Ray served in the Army for two years. Married his beloved wife Irma on January. 28, 1950. They moved to Milwaukee, WI, where he was a mason contractor and owned Allstate Concrete in Butler, WI, for 20 years. He was then self-employed as a maintenance contractor in Milwaukee, WI. Ray and Irma retired in 1979 when they moved back to Baraga County, and resided in Skanee. They lived on beautiful Huron Bay, members of the Skanee Zion Lutheran Church. He also was a member of the Eagles and the American Legion of L'Anse. Ray's passion was fishing for lake trout by the Huron Islands and dancing, especially at the Aura Jamboree. He also loved hunting, camping and traveling. Ray and Irma were snowbirds; the first 10 years in Florida and then 11 years in Texas. Ray had so many friends and he lived for his family and will be deeply missed by his wife and children.

The family would like to thank the BCMH and SNU for all their care and love they gave our father in his time of need. The nursing care in these two facilities, were more than a family could ask for. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Visitation will be at the Jacobson's Funeral Home on Thursday, March 20, 2008, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be on Friday, March 21, 2008, at Zion Lutheran Church in Skanee at 1 p.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service also. Burial will take place in the Skanee Cemetery. There will be a memorial service for Ray in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Zion Lutheran Church in Skanee, MI. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
