Robert “Bob” Donald Erickson, age 60 of L’Anse, MI passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2014 in L’Anse.
He was born December 15, 1953 in L’Anse, MI, son of Donald and Elaine (Whitty) Erickson. Bob went to Sacred Heart School and then L’Anse Elementary School; and graduated from L’Anse High School in 1972. He married Kathleen Soli on May 29, 1992 in Traverse City, MI.
As a young man he began working at the family owned business, Erickson Saw Mill, where he currently was President and CEO. The family business expanded over a decade ago to include Erickson True Value which created more jobs within the community.
Bob always looked out for other people; helped the community and created jobs. He was a very hard worker, and was an over achiever. He always did for others before he did for himself. He went out of his way to help others and was a very giving man. He had a deep love for all members of his family and was very proud of all his children and grandchildren. He had a strong faith in God and a deep respect for family and his fellow man. He was considerate, hardworking, fair, generous, and kind. Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was talented with wood working.
Surviving are his wife Kathleen of L’Anse; parents Donald and Elaine Erickson of L’Anse; children, Tina (Andrew) Heikkinen of Baraga, Marc Lally of Canton, OH, John Erickson of New Haven, MI, Eric (Amber) Lally of Massillon, OH, Timothy Lally of Livonia, MI; brother Jim (Laurie) Erickson of Rio Rancho, NM; sisters, Donna (Bob) Baxter of Skanee, Anne (Paul) LeClaire of L’Anse, Cindy (Rick) LaPlante of Pequaming; grandchildren, John Davis Jr., Harlie Davis, Lea Elliott, Genevieve Lally; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was on Tuesday, August 12th from 4-7:00 p.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home. His brother-in-law Norman Soli gave a eulogy at 6:00 p.m. followed by the rosary at 6:30 p.m. led by Fr. Corey Litzner. Bob’s funeral mass was on Wednesday, August 13th at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church with Fr. Corey Litzner. A luncheon and fellowship followed the service in the church hall. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
