Robert Charles Shawa Jr., age 59 of Baraga, MI passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at his home.
He was born October 29, 1954 in East Jordan, MI son of Robert Charles Sr. and Vera Mae (Wabagenese) Shawa. Robert grew up in South Haven, MI and moved to Baraga in 1991 and worked at Erickson Lumber. From 2001-2010 he lived back downstate and worked at the Veteran's Service Center in Muskegon, MI; then he returned to Baraga. He was a member of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians.
Surviving are his daughters Stacy (Jim) Yates Droski of Kalamazoo, MI and Andrea (Adam) Smith of Pullman, MI; brother Philip (Mary) Shawa of Pullman, MI; sister Victoria Loonsfoot of Baraga, MI; grandchildren, Dylan, Ryan, Tyler, and Zach Droski, Jayden and Jorden Smith; nieces Crystal Shawa of Dowaglac, MI and her daughters Amaya and Alissa and Jamie Shawa of Pullman, MI and her children C.J. Shawa and Rose Marie Shawa; nephews Robert A. Shawa of Zeba and Mike A Johnson of Zeba and his children Clayton Allen Johnson and Sayge Lyrich Johnson.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Per his request there will be no visitation or funeral service. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
