Roger Dougherty, age 79 of Zeba, passed away on Friday, August 24 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital.
He was born on October 11, 1921 in Minnesota son of Thomas Daugherty and Ella LeClaire. Roger grew up in Marquette and graduated from Marquette High School. He was in the U.S. Air Force. Roger married the former Lenore Remington in 1950 in Marquette. He worked in Brillion, WI and Green Bay, WI as a laborer and moved to Zeba in 1994.
Roger enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter Angela, playing cards, and watching various televisions shows; The Price is Right, Heat of the Night, Packer football, NASCAR racing, boxing, golf, and wildlife.
He is survived by one son, Michael Daugherty of Zeba; two daughters, JoAnn Larson of Zeba, Debra (Donald) Quayle of Big Bay, MI; one step brother, George Daugherty of Appleton; two sisters-in-law, Jean Daugherty of Lake Orion, MI, Betty Daugherty of Green Bay; ten grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Dick Nadeau, Bill Daugherty, and Roland Daugherty.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 28 at 3:00 p.m. at the Jacobson Funeral Home. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. The Baraga County Area Veterans will conduct a service at 2:30 p.m. Fr. Greg Heikkala will officiate. Burial will be in Park Cemetery in Marquette. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is in charge of the arrangements.
