Rose Jean Toyras, 88, of Aura, MI went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital. Rose was born on September 11, 1925 in L'Anse, MI.

Rose "Jean" was raised on the Karschney family farm and sawmill, along with her six siblings, on Huron Bay. Rose married Matt Toyras on October 17, 1942 and together they raised three children, David, Janet, and Bonnie, in Aura, MI. Rose enjoyed gardening and loved to hunt and fish. Her passion for the outdoors has been passed down to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was known to out-fish many local anglers on Huron Bay and was the last one to leave the woods at the end of a good hunt. Her love didn't stop there as her warm smile and loving hugs were always waiting for her family.

Preceded in death are her parents Oscar A. and Mamie (Running) Karschney, her husband, Matt, son, David Toyras, her siblings, Oscar, Emil, Ken, Mamie, Josie, Becky, and great-grandson, Dylan DeCaire.

Rose is survived by her daughters, Janet (James) Barnett; Bonnie (Ray) Hill; her grandchildren, Todd (Sherry) Barnett; Cheryl Barnett; Mark (Vicki) Bergerson; Kevin Bergerson; Lisa DeCaire; Tammy (Pete) Magaraggia; Dave (Michele) Toyras; Dan (Damia) Toyras; Hunter Hill and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Monday, November 4th from 10-11:00 a.m. at the Aura Lutheran Church. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Aura Lutheran Church with Pastor Peter Suomela and Rev. Judy Mattson officiating. Burial will be in the Aura Cemetery. A luncheon and fellowship will follow at the Aura Fire Hall. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is assisting the family.
