Roy Nathan Hanson, age 88 of L'Anse, Michigan passed away on Friday, February 20, 2009 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 20 1920 in Paynesville, MI son of Carl and Beatrice (Jumisko) Hanson. He graduated Ewen High School and then went into the US Air Force during WWII from November 1942-45. After the war he attended Michigan State University. He was a logger and carpenter.
He is a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in Hancock. His hobbies included woodworking, fishing, and hunting.
Surviving are his sisters Martha Koskela, Selma Murto, and Ruth Hanson all of L'Anse; several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his brothers, Ernest, Leonard, Hans, Norman, Fred, Harold, Russell, Arnold, and baby Rueben; sisters, Mary Hanson, Signe Larson, Esther Davis, Lillian Hanson, babies Ellen, Elma, and Emma.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 24th at 1:00 pm at Jacobson Funeral Home. The visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Pastor Ron Jouppe will officiate. Burial will be in the spring in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse is assisting the family.
