Ruth M Hanson, age 90 of L'Anse, MI passed away on Friday, January 17, 2014 at Bayside Village in L'Anse.
She was born August 3, 1923 in Paynesville, MI daughter to Carl and Beatrice (Jumisko) Hanson. Ruth graduated from Ewen High School in 1941. She worked for the Farm Service Agency for over 30 years starting in Ewen, MI and then moving to the L'Anse office in 1963; she retired in 1984.
She was a member of Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in Hancock, MI. Ruth was a fabulous gardener, known for her rose bushes and flower gardens. She enjoyed golf, bowling, traveling, and fishing on Lake Superior.
Surviving are her sister Martha Koskela of L'Anse and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents; brothers, Ernest, Leonard, Hans, Norman, Fred, Harold, Russell, Arnold, Roy, and Baby Reuben Hanson; sisters, Mary Hanson, Signe Larson, Esther Davis, Lillian Hanson, Selma Murto, and babies, Ellen, Elma, and Emma.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 22nd from 11-1:00 p.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Ron Jouppe officiating. Burial will be in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery in the spring. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is assisting the family.
