Ruth Magdalena Johnson
July 22, 1917 — March 29, 2009
Ruth M. Johnson, age 91 of Baraga, MI passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2009 at Shulstad's Leisure Living in Baraga.
She was born July 22, 1917 in Skanee, MI daughter of the late Ernest and Theresia (Sandberg) Frederickson. Ruth graduated from L'Anse High School in 1935. She married John Clish in 1937; he preceded her in death in 1959. She married Weikko Maki in 1962 and he preceded her in death in 1965. On September 29, 1973 she married Walter Johnson in Baraga. They enjoyed traveling through out the US. Ruth worked for BCMH for over 15 years, retiring in 1977.
Ruth was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Baraga, Baraga American Legion Auxiliary Post 444, Alston VFW Auxiliary Post #7646, and was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star Maplewood Chapter 511 in L'Anse. She enjoyed sewing, handwork, baking, cooking and taking care of her family.
Surviving are her son Richard (Connie) Clish of Oxford, MI; daughter Marilyn (Steve) Talaga of Negaunee, MI; daughter-in-law Kathie Clish of California; sister Esther Lind of Chicago; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her husband Walter Johnson in 2000; son John R. Clish; step-daughter Sharon Maki; brothers Harry, Morgan, and George Fredrickson; sisters Ebba Mitchell, and Mabel Anderson.
Ruth was truly a child of God and may she rest in peace.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 11th at 11:00 am at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Baraga. Rev. Robert Sutherland will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse is assisting the family.
