Sadie Pauline Hutula, age 89 of Watton, MI was called to her eternal home on Christmas morning, December 25, 2007, at Baraga County Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit where she resided and was well taken care of since 2001.

She was born January 1, 1918 in Watton, MI daughter to August and Fanny (Niemi) Pihlajamaki (P. Maki). Sadie attended school in Watton and graduated from Kenton High School in 1936. She went to work at the Watton Co-op right after high school. Sadie married William A. Hutula on September 10, 1939 in Wakefield, MI. She worked as a bookkeeper for various family owned businesses including the Wood Development Corporation.

Sadie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She loved picking berries, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, flower gardening, knitting, and reading. Sadie always enjoyed family gatherings.

Surviving are her children Linnea (Gerald) Nopola of Watton, Dale (Linda) Hutula of Watton, Carole (Marvin) Rajala of Watton, Kristine (Donald) Duhame of Ishpeming; grandchildren Deborah (Brian) Schultz of Watton, Brenda (Wayne) Jobman of Livonia, Pamela (Mark) Kivela of Marshfield, WI, Bradley Hutula of Watton, Elizabeth Hutula of Chicago, Amanda (Ben) Harrison of Eagan, MN, Daniel Rajala of Watton, Andrew Rajala of Iron Mountain, Stacie Kruse of Ishpeming, Mitchell Kruse of Ishpeming, and Sean Kruse of Aberdeen, Maryland; great grandchildren Amy and Michael Schultz of Watton, Andrew, Christopher, and Lee Jobman of Livonia, Nicole Kivela of Marshfield, WI, Gavin Kruse of Ishpeming, Jack William Harrison of Eagan, MN; brothers Raymond (Cindy) Maki of Watton, Glenn (Betty) Maki of Covington; sisters Lily Urpila of Covington, Violet Autio of Watton, Fern (Herman) Tilson of Watton; sister-in-laws Aileen Hutula of Pennsylvania, Minerva Kovala of Redford Twp., Helen Minichelli of Gross Pointe Park; several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband William; brother Norman Maki; and sister Donna Laundy.

The funeral service will be on Saturday, December 29th at 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 28th from 6-8:00 pm at Jacobson Funeral Home and on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church. Rev. Mark Reinsch will officiate. Burial will take place in the spring in the Covington Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse is assisting the family.
