Shelley Ann Bennett

Shelley Bennett, age 45 of L'Anse, MI passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette, Michigan.

She was born June 10, 1963 in L'Anse, MI daughter to William and Nancy (Salo) Haanpaa. Shelley graduated from L'Anse High School in 1981. She was the Dietary Manager at Bayside Village where she had been working for over 15 years. Shelley married Mike Bennett on April 11, 2000 in L'Anse.

She loved gardening, beading, crafting, camping at Witz's, going to the casino, and of coarse the Packers.

Surviving are her husband, Mike of L'Anse; daughters, Kristen Shaffer of L'Anse, Heather (Jesse) Manning of L'Anse, Jenna Hansen of Marquette; stepson Chris (Kristy) Peterson of Kaukauna, WI; father William (Pat) Haanpaa of Herman; mother Nancy Haanpaa of Herman; maternal grandparents, Donald & Frances Skytta of Ishpeming; brothers, David (Nancy) Haanpaa of Aura, Roddy (Cheryl) Haanpaa of L'Anse, Billy (Danielle) Haanpaa of Negaunee; sister Tracy (Richie) LaPlante of Negaunee; eight grandchildren, Anthony, Taylor, Hayden, Kale, Nick, MacKenzie, Taylor, Dylan; brother-in-laws, John (Cathy) Bennett of Munising, Tim (Janal) Bennett of L'Anse; sister-in-law, Pat (Mark)Scales of Libertyville, IL, Mary (Mark) Eanes of Stanton, MI; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceded her in death are her paternal grandparents, Martha & Arne Haanpaa; and maternal grandfather, Homer Salo.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 15th from 5-7:00 pm and on Monday, February 16th from 1-2:00 pm at the Jacobson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday at the funeral home with Fr. George Maki officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery.
