Shirley A. Catherman

Shirley Catherman, age 75 formerly of Skanee, MI passed away on Monday, November 15, 2010 at San Luis Nursing Home in Green Bay.
She was born January 25, 1935 in Kalamazoo, MI daughter of Aquilla and Thena (Baxter) Smith. On December 13, 1953 she married Clifford Catherman in Kalamazoo and moved to Skanee. They spent many wonderful years running the Aurora Borealis Resort on Lake Superior and raising their family. After retirement, they moved to Ishpeming, MI and eventually moved to warmer climates in Florida where they enjoyed many friends in a retirement community in Sebring. In 2007 Shirley and Clifford moved to Green Bay to be closer to family.
Shirley and Clifford were well known for their many adventures traveling throughout the country and visiting every state in the union. Surviving are her son Kevin (Alice) Catherman of Norfolk, Virginia; daughters, Cathy Miron of Ishpeming, Karin (Bill) Sands of Green Bay, WI; sisters Sandra (Robert) Nichols of Kalamazoo, MI, Diane (Kenneth "Jack") Shumaker of Plainwell, MI; and seven grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Clifford; brothers, Daniel and James Smith.
Her funeral service will be held on Friday, November 19th at 11:00 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Skanee where Shirley was a member during their time in Skanee. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Rev. Judy Mattson will officiate. Burial will be in the Skanee Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Joshua Sands, Kyle Miron, Sarah Sands and Carly Miron, her son Kevin Catherman, and son in law Bill Sands. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is assisting the family.
