Sylvia F. Johnson
March 12, 1912 — March 13, 2008
Sylvia Johnson, age 96 formerly of Pelkie passed away Thursday, March13, 2008 at Bayside village in L'Anse where she has resided for the past 15 years.
She was born March 2, 1912 in Herman, MI daughter to the late Fabian and Julia (Kujala) Torvinen. Sylvia graduated from L'Anse High School. She lived in Herman and then moved to Detroit where she lived for 35 years and worked as a clerk for New York Central Railroad. In 1973 she moved to Pelkie. Sylvia was a member of Mission United Lutheran Church and a former member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Surviving are her sister Hilia Huhtala of Hancock, MI and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death are her husband Edward Johnson; sisters Aune Beels, and Taimi Autio; Brother Tauno Torvinen.
The funeral service will be held on Monday March 17, at 7:00 p.m. at the Jacobson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior the service. Rev. John Autio will officiate. Burial will be in the spring in the Pelkie Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is assisting the family.
