Taimi M. Autio age 80 of L'Anse passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2003 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital.
Taimi was born October 23, 1922 in Summit, MI daughter to the late Fabian and Julia Anna (Kujala) Torvinen. She grew up in Herman and graduated from L'Anse High School in 1941. Taimi married Sulo on March 3, 1951 in Chassell. They resided in Waukegan, IL and Detroit, MI before moving back to L'Anse in 1952. She worked as a secretary for Baraga County Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1984.
Taimi was a member of the United Lutheran Church, Martha's Circle, and Eagle's Aerie #2287 Auxiliary in L'Anse. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, sewing, and traveling.
She is survived by her son John (Kathryn) Autio of Dubuque, IA; three sisters, Sylvia Johnson of L'Anse, Hilia Huhtala of L'Anse and Aune Beels of Baraga; two grandchildren, Julia and Kirsti Autio.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 1 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Lutheran Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday, and from 6-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Jacobson Funeral Home. The Eagle's Auxiliary will conduct a service at 7:30 p.m.. Rev. Margaret Grant will officiate. Burial will be in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse is assisting the family.
