Toivo Matt Johnson

Toivo M. Johnson, age 93 of Pelkie passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at Shulstad Leisure Living in Baraga.
He was born May 26, 1911 in Pelkie son of the late Emil and Liisa (Toppari) Johnson. Toivo was in the United States Army during WWII. After the service he lived in Detroit for 10 years and worked in the auto industry. He then moved back to Pelkie and worked on the family farm.
Preceding Toivo in death are his sister, Lempi Johnson and brothers Emil, Fabian, Edward, Walter, Waino, Francis, and Arvo. Surviving are his brother Wiljo Johnson of Pelkie, sister-in-laws Ruth Johnson of Baraga and Sylvia Johnson of Bayside Village in L'Anse and Elsie Johnson of Garden City, MI, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 20th at 11:00 am at the Jacobson Funeral Home. Rev. Dean Franz will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A luncheon and fellowship will follow the service in The Sharing Room at the funeral home. Internment will be in the Pelkie Cemetery.
