Violet Hakola, 78, of Baraga, died Sunday, January 1, 2006, at her home.
She was born March 3, 1927, in Baraga, a daughter of the late Joseph and Dora (Weatheral) Sipe and had been a lifelong area resident. On August 17, 1946 she married Reino Hakola in Hancock and he preceded her in death in 1970.
Violet enjoyed solving puzzles and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by 3 sons, Gary (Carol) Hakola of Marion, WI, Robert Hakola of Pelkie and Dale (Donna Maskill) Hakola of Baraga; 1 daughter, Deana Allen of Green Bay, WI; 3 sisters, Viola Murto of Pelkie, Florence Kunick of Baraga and Louella (Ray) Morvak of Wabeno, WI; niece, Patti Santti; nephews Tom and Bob Sipe; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several other nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Violet was preceded in death by a son, Raymond (Bernadine) Hakola; and siblings, Olivia, Eda Mae, Doris, Ada, Alice, Archie, Lloyd and Joseph; and a grandson, Robert Jr.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at 2 p.m. in the Jacobson Funeral Home with Rev. Judy Mattson officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place in the Pelkie Cemetery in the spring.
