Virginia K. Turala

Virginia K. Turala, age 80 of Baraga passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2001 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital skilled nurse unit.
She was born January 14, 1921 in Bruce Crossing, MI, a daughter of Herman and Anna (Ivio) Tulppo. She moved to the Copper Country at the age of two. She was married to Henry Turala on March 30, 1946. He preceded her in death on May 12, 1976.
She lived in the Twin Lakes area for 32 years. She was a waitress and bar tender at Jakes Bar for several years. She was also a trustee and Clerk for Elm River Township in Houghton County for several years. Virginia has resided in Baraga since 1980.
She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Baraga, Baragaland Senior Citizens Center and a former board member of UPCAP for 14 years.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Ann (Raymond) Eslick of Washington, MI; son, Robert Piri; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two great great granchildren; one niece; and two nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 31, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Baraga. Pastor Judy Mattson will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery in Winona, MI. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is assisting the family.
