Virginia Athene Wierikko

Virginia Athene Wierikko, 90, of Baraga, died Sunday afternoon, March 19, 2006 at Bayside Village Nursing Home in L'Anse.
She was born February 26, 1916, in Elton, Wisconsin, a daughter of the late George and Rosa (Jones) Manning. Virginia attended Trout Creek High School. On October 7, 1935 she married Louis Pulkas and he preceded her in death in 1970. She married John Wierikko on February 7, 1971 and he preceded her in death in 2001.
Virginia was a member of Grace Free Lutheran Church in Pelkie.
She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn (Carl) Hatlestad of Chippewa Falls, WI; grandchildren, Tim Hatlestad of Woodbury, MN and Shelly Hatlestad of LaCross, WI. She was also preceded in death by 3 sisters and a 3 brothers.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 24, 2006 at 11 a.m. in the Jacobson Funeral Home with Rev. Dean Franz officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will be in the Trout Creek Cemetery in the spring.
