Waino H. Haka

Waino Henry Haka, 80, of L'Anse passed away at the Westside Residential Care Home in L'Anse on Tuesday, October 7, 2003.

Waino was born November 4, 1922 in Pelkie to the late Jacob and Hilma (Rajamaki) Haka. He lived most of his life in Pelkie and married the former Ethel (Maki) Harkonen in 1969 in L'Anse, she preceded him in death on November 20, 1992.

Waino was self employed logging truck operator and a heavy equipment operator for Baraga County Road Commission retiring in 1985. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing and camping.

Waino is survived by two stepsons, Gale Harkonen of Denver, CO, and Michael (Brenda) Harkonen of Baraga; one sister, Leona (Wilhart) Jahfetson of Baraga; one grandson, Tyler Harkonen of Baraga; special nephew Ron Haka; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Wilho, Raymond, Wesley, Wilbert Haka; sisters, Thelma Maki and Bertha Mustonen

Services for Waino will be Friday, October 10, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. at the Jacobson Funeral Home with visitation from 11:00 a.m. till time of services. Pastor Judy Mattson will officiate. Burial will be in the Pelkie Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
