Wallace Edward "Soupy" Paquette, 79, of Skanee, died Sunday evening, November 27, 2005, at Baraga County Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 18, 1926, in L'Anse, a son of the late George and Elsie (Rehn). Soupy was a 1944 graduate of L'Anse High School. He married the former Ellois Satterfield in Baraga in 1965.
He was a WWII veteran, having served in the Navy. Following his service, Soupy owned and operated George's Tavern with his brother, Delore, which his father started in 1941. He sold ownership of the bar in 1983.
Soupy was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Sacred Heart Church.
He is survived by his wife, Ellois Paquette of L'Anse; and nieces, Rosina Pertile and Debbie Lee, both of Marquette. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Delore and Warren Paquette and sisters, Margurite Paquette and Vivian Lee.
A celebration of life luncheon will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday in the Jacobson Funeral Home with Rev. Augustine George to give the blessing. Interment will be in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery in the spring.
