Wilhart A. "Winkie" Jahfetson, age 95 of Baraga, MI passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital.
Wilhart was born on August 11, 1917 in Pelkie, MI son of the late Aaron and Tyyne (Laamanen) Jahfetson. He grew up on the family farm and married Leona Haka on June 26, 1948 in Pelkie. He was the 1st person hired at Celotex where he was an equipment operator for 24 years. Wilhart also worked at Northwood's Sawmill for 25 years. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing.
Preceding him in death are his parents; step-brother Ralph Kamarainen; grandson, Jerry Juntunen, and half-sister Elma Plough.
Surviving are his wife Leona Jahfetson in Bayside Village in L'Anse; children, Roger (Barbara) Jahfetson of Baraga, JoAnn (Richard) Juntunen of Marquette, Mary Karkanen of Chassell, Jacob (Elaine) Jahfetson of Keweenaw Bay, Jane (Keith) Paulson of Nisula, Brenda (Mike) Harkonen of Baraga; 17 grandchildren, Roger Jr. and Steven Jahfetson, Becki Hoult, Donald Jr. and Eric Tauriainen, Tiffany Karkanen, Sarah Tembruell, Wendy Rogers, Karen Palosaari, Jason Jahfetson, David Jahfetson, Tricia Bates, and Jacqueline Jahfetson, Erin Peterson, Krystal Tollefson, Amanda Putula, Todd Paulson, Tyler Harkonen; and 31 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 18th at 1:00 p.m. at the Mission United Lutheran Church with Rev. John Autio officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Pelkie Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
