William "Bill" St. John, 59, of Pelkie, died Monday afternoon, April 9, 2007, at his home, following a lengthy illness.
He was born January 31, 1948, in Jackson, Michigan, a son of John and Natalie (Lewis) St. John. Bill attended and graduated from Jackson High School.
On June 9, 1973 he married the former Barbara Lauther in Pompano Beach, Florida.
He worked in Florida for several years installing water lines for new sub-divisions with RHJ Construction. Bill moved to Pelkie in 1988, with his family, where he owned an operated a dairy farm.
Bill was a former chief of the Pelkie Fire Department. His leisure activities included woodworking, model trains, computer programming and rebuilding a classic car.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara St. John of Pelkie; mother, Natalie Warning of New Smyrna Beach, FL; children, Christa (Dale) Hadden of Baraga and Jennifer (Steven) Geer of Pelkie; grandchildren, Stephen and Stephanie Hadden and Natalie Geer; a brother, Robert St. John of Houston, TX; and nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 13, 2007 at 2 p.m. in the Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
