William Earl Mili, age 88 of Baraga, MI passed away on Monday, December 16, 2013 at Shulstad's Leisure Living in Baraga.
Bill was born October 12, 1925 in Calumet, MI son to William and Dora (Ross) Mili Sr. He was raised in Alston where he lived in the family home next to the Alston Bar (the church in the valley, which his dad opened). Bill attended the Laird School and then went to Baraga. He moved to Detroit and worked for Cadillac prior to going into the Army during WWII from 1943-46. After returning home Bill and his parents moved to Mass City and operated a general store and retail gas sales outlet. Bill married the former Patricia "Patsy" Shaffer on April 17, 1948 in Greenland. Bill moved his family to Detroit in 1954 and returned to General Motors until retirement in 1979.
It is safe to say that his love for the automobile went beyond his working career. Bill could walk in almost any dealership and was known on a first name basis; this was his favorite thing to do. He was always willing to help someone with car related questions and people would call him and ask if he knew of a certain car for sale and if they found it ask if this sounded like a fair deal.
Surviving are his son Tom Mili of Baraga; granddaughters Patti (Emil Myers) Mili of Midland, MI, Michelle (Dan) Kowalski of Houghton; four great grandchildren, Billy, Marcus, Joseph, and Jacob.
Bill's wife Patsy; his son Dave; and his parents proceeded him in death.
Visitation will be on Sunday, December 22nd from 5-7 p.m. at the Jacobson Funeral Home; parish prayers will be recited at 6:30 p.m. followed by the Baraga County Area Veterans conducting military rites at 7:00 p.m. under the direction of the American Legion Post #444. His funeral mass will be held on Monday, December 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in L'Anse. Burial will be in the spring in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Greenland, MI. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
