Zenia I. Johnson, age 93, of Baraga, died Wednesday evening, July 31, 2002 at her home following a lengthy illness.
Ms. Johnson was born February 14, 1909 in Baraga and was a daughter of the late Victor & Mary (Osterlund) Johnson. Zenia worked for many years as a machinist in Chicago before retiring and returning to Baraga in 1951. She then was employed at the Winkler Nursing Home and also worked as a housekeeper.
She enjoyed making afghans, crocheting, embroidery and cooking. Her family will always remember her as having a warm heart, someone who was helpful and kind.
Ms. Johnson is survived by her sisters, Marie Elfers, Elsie Soli and Elvera "Viv" Barda; a brother, Arvid (Helen) Johnson all of Baraga; nieces, Joyce (Bob) Standlee of Lawton, Oklahoma, Mary (Ron) Williams of Poteau, OK and Cynthia Curry of Houghton; great-nieces and great-nephews, Victoria & Jesse Standlee of Lawton, OK and Steven & Paige Williams of Poteau, OK. A brother, Rudolph and sister, Irene Pederson preceded her in death.
Visitation will held on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon in the Jacobson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 12:00 noon in the funeral home with the Pastor Judy Mattson officiating. Friends are invited to join the family for fellowship and luncheon in the Sharing Room located within the funeral home. Interment will be held in the Baraga Cemetery.
