Edward James Collins, age 51 of Skanee, MI passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 15, 2017 while working in Lebanon, MO.
He was born September 22, 1966 in Pontiac, MI son of Edward and Marlene (Diem) Collins. Ed graduated from L’Anse High School and Northern Michigan University. Ed married the former Randee Sue Nelson Butterworth on June 22, 1985. They moved to Skanee in 1991. He worked for Johnson and Berry Manufacturing for a number of years prior to starting his trucking company EJ Collins LLC.
He is a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He enjoyed sailing, riding motorcycle with his son, target practicing, archery, karate, walking in the woods, spending time with his family and trucking with his dog Little Rock.
Surviving are his wife Randee Sue Collins of Skanee; children, Kristen (Anthony) Robinson of Aurora, IL, Edward Collins of Skanee; mother Marlene Diem of Alpena, MI; step mother Linda Brissette of Hessel, MI; grandchildren Leo Anthony Elza Robinson and step grandchild Anthony Joel Robinson; siblings Yvonne Branch (Tim) of Kelso, TN and Niece Angela (Josh) Koebel of Clarksville, TN; Kim (Daryl) Brown of Bonner Ferry, ID, and nephews, Tanner Brown stationed in Ft. Eustis, VA, Hunter Brown of Bonner Ferry, ID; Sara Archer (Ken) of Hessel, MI and niece Katelyn Archer of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, nephews Timmy (Aubree) Archer of Sault Ste. Marie, MI; Blaine Archer of Sault Ste. Marie, MI; step sisters, Angie Causley Guerra of Grand Rapids, MI, and nephew Jordan Labranche of Grand Rapids, MI, niece Gabrielle Guerra of Grand Rapids, MI; Michelle Collins of San Antonia, TX, Nephew Oliver Collins of San Antonia, TX; Charlee Brisette of Austin, TX.
Preceding him in death are his father Edward Collins.
Visitation will be on Saturday, December 23rd from 2-4:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Skanee. The funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Peter Suomela officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L’Anse is in charge of arrangements.
