Lee Ira Rice

Lee Ira Rice, age 62 of L’Anse, MI passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at his home.

He was born June 27, 1955 in Ludington, MI son of Howard and Beth “Elaine” (Warner) Rice. Lee graduated from L’Anse High School in 1973. He was married to former Kristine Shubat. He sailed on the Great Lakes for M. A. Hanna Mining Co, and also worked for Celotex. Lee was a logger for many years and then worked construction as an operating engineer for local 324 until retirement. He was an avid hunter and loved anything to do with being outdoors. Lee was a volunteer Fireman for several years.

Surviving are his son John (Erin) Rice of Marquette, MI; mother Elaine Rice of Suomico, WI; brother Dean (Sonia) Rice of South Range, WI; sister Denise (Gerald) Cole of Munising; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father Howard Rice.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 2nd at 1:00 p.m. at the Jacobson Funeral Home with Rev. John Henry officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery.
